the tyrant and the toddler

The tyrant and the toddler
Have much in common
Both rule with
Tiny clenched fists
but only one
Is expected to mature
And learn reason-
Both throw tantrums
But one never knows
Peace - and so sews
Unrest and division-
The tyrant and the toddler
Have much in common

Both begin new regimes
But one starts solid foods
While the other binges
On yellow journalism
And fast news-
Both will dress themselves
In the strangest fashions
But only one looks in the mirror
And sees a fool-
The tyrant and the toddler
have much in common
Both can be placated
By staring at a screen
But only one isn’t happy
Unless endorsing the obscene-
Both become what they are taught
though they're driven by emotion
But one's brain is like a sponge
and the other ignorantly corroded-
The tyrant and the toddler
Have much in common
But one soul is pure-
And the other is
Pure - Rotten-
