It’s a leap year, and the cherry tree blooms
now, in the depth of winter buds unfold.
What will happen when Spring finally looms?
Will today’s babes ever get to grow old?
London’s cranes fly and swing from East to West,
Soaring rents evict the poor out of sight
so wealthy toffs can claim all that is best,
never giving a toss what’s wrong or right.
Junior doctors are accused of greed,
and yet MPs make twice their salaries.
our taxes pay their wages and for two house deeds!
Who can cure the NHS’ maladies?
Indeed, who cares about the state of things when
life is lived as if it never will end?
